GRAPEVINE

v     The quote above sounds pretty bleak at first glance, but in reality it is simply a statement of a well-founded truth.  As we evolve and expand with greater knowledge we come to understand the full breadth of life’s experiences.   Some of those experiences bring disappointment and sorrow.  They also bring enlightenment and empathy for others.  It is when we truly walk in another’s shoes that we completely recognize the fullness of life’s experience.

v     Mandala Arts © will be participating at the First Naukabout Festival on Cape Cod on August 16th.  This is a very cool new venture which brings together great music, food, and art, all for the cause of building memories and helping others.  The Elias Fund is the primary beneficiary.  Go to http://www.naukabout.com/festival.htm for more information and tickets.

v     Mandala Arts © is the official name of my business venture which markets, licenses, and produces products from my artwork.  Current products include greeting cards, tiles, coffee mugs, grocery totes, and
T-shirts and new ideas yet to come….

v     I will be part of an art exhibition hosted by Endicott College from August 20 through September 26th.  There will be a formal reception on September 17th.  I’ll provide details in September’s newsletter.  It is a wonderful honor to be a part of this event and I am humbly grateful (yes, it’s possible!)

v     Mandala Arts © greeting cards are available at East-West Book Store in the heart of Union Square, New York City….and from me of course.

v     All the radio shows are sitting up on iTunes as podcasts and you can listen or subscribe to them for FREE.  They are a smash! Click here: http://phobos.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewPodcast?id=264837097

AS ABOVE, SO BELOW:
The Sun entered its natural home of Leo this past month.  Proud and radiant, the Sun struts into Leo with confidence and swagger.  Summertime, and the livin’ is easy.  In addition, chatty and inquisitive Mercury was opposite the wise and wonderful Jupiter.  The dance of these two planets inevitably brought about a fleeting explosive nature that could be an impetus for discovery or signal a communication breakthrough.  Meanwhile the Moon was conjunct Neptune at 23 degrees Aquarius.  Moon and Neptune together bring about a daydreaming affect to many people.  When Neptune’s realm of illusion and escapism dips into the emotional waters ruled by the Moon, the desire to escape is widely prevalent.  Movies, books, and art are all great outlets for the conjunction of these two planets, yet drugs and alcohol are also present when these two planets cojoin.  Be wise and think ahead.   Later the Moon cojoined Uranus and emotional outbursts (good and bad) were present.  A beautiful full moon in Capricorn graced the skies on July 18th  accompanied by glittering giant Jupiter.  To see the two together was maginificent.  As always the choice is ours to make.  View powerful transits and aspects as unique opportunities to make changes for the better.

As always, use these transits to your own greatest advantage with a professional astrology reading.  If you have specific questions about how these events affect you or want an accurate reading, you can always email me at chris@chrisflisher.com

FORECAST:

A solar eclipse takes place on August 1 in the sign of Leo.  Eclipses are big events and herald big changes.  The Sun, Moon, and Mercury are conjunct early in the week and expect loud proclamations and bold statements.  This signals perfect timing for political reform and posturing.  Expect grand schemes and visionary thinking on the part of public figures.  Emotions are running high and the dialog will be exceptionally memorable on the national political front.  Later in the week Venus and the Moon join together and embrace Pluto in a pleasant encounter of optimism and HOPE.  How perfect is the timing on this?  The drive of Mars will oppose the sudden rebellion of Uranus and we can expect to see radical departures and possibly bold initiatives being nailed into political party platforms.  The key word is hope; for in it lies the secret.

Mars and the Moon in Virgo together oppose Uranus later in the month.  Virgo serves and offers, while Mars pushes its fiery agenda through the emotional haze of the Moon.  Expect a continued dialog of heated opinions and political posturing.  We are approaching times of enormous reformation and alignment.  The trails that are being blazed now will point the way of the future and move us towards an inevitable shift in consciousness.  These very powerful planetary aspects are indicative of what is to come.  Pay attention.  By week’s end Mercury will be in a pleasant alignment with transformative Pluto.  Great strides are being made to forge humanity in new directions and the aspects support this.  Operate with goodness and hope and the doors of change will openly freely.

The most significant event this month is the Sun’s egress into Virgo.  Virgo is the sign of service and detail.  Virgo is a mutable earth sign and shows its character by helping others.  As the Sun moves through Virgo he will touch bases with Saturn later in the month which will highlight responsibility to others.  Additionally, Mercury and Venus continue their travels as they oppose Uranus.  This type of alignment is great for sudden windfalls and unexpected events.  Uranus is the planet of rebellion and change.  Typical Uranian events are marked by an out-of-the-blue character to them.  When you least expect it; it happens.  Nothing to fear here, just open to possibilities and see what the universe delivers.  View powerful transits and aspects as unique opportunities to make changes for the better.

A wise person heeds astrology; a fool accepts it blindly.  To be forewarned is to be forearmed.

Astrology 101: Sixth House
It is no small coincidence that as we enter Virgo on August 23rd, the sixth house becomes our topic.  Virgos epitomize the sixth house, so it is fitting that we turn our attention to the house of service.  Service entails helping others; being of service to; and of self sacrifice.  Virgos are especially adept at this since they are a mutable earth-sign.  Mutability implies bending, giving, and flexibility.   Ruled by Virgo and Chiron, the planet of the wounded healer, the sixth house is where we find doctors and nurses, social workers and public servants.  It is also the house of animals and domestic help; the army or any branch of the service (again, that word, “service”); restaurants and libraries; government and health care (those two need to be more closely aligned, don’t you think?); and work in general.  The whole idea of work is especially relevant to the sixth house since it, too, implies service to some degree.  Virgos are well-known for their attention to detail and order.  Felix Unger of the “Odd Couple” is a typical, although exaggerated example of a Virgo.  In his obsession with cleanliness and order he drove his roommate, Oscar Madison crazy.  Yet he embodied service, ultimately.  All of these qualities are grand unless they are taken for granted.  Mutable signs are often so good at what they do with regard to service, that people forget how valuable they are.  No surprise that the sixth house also deals with health and the healing arts. Take a moment to thank those who serve and you will be rewarded in kind.

Where is your sixth house?  What planets are in your house of service?  Is it a significant part of your personality?  The only way of determining is to have your chart cast professionally.  For more in-depth discussion of astrology, contact Chris.  Personal readings are always available by emailing Chris at chris@chrisflisher.com.  Visit http://www.chrisflisher.com/astrology for Fees and Services.

SPIRIT IN ART:
Compound Interest” – Everything in nature is a composite of two or more elemental objects.  Leaves and water make tea; wood and nails make furniture; man and woman make children; and so on.  When we combine our interests we form a union that is larger and more powerful than that of being alone.  In the end we are one.  One with ourselves and one with each other.  When disparate cultures, creeds and beliefs evolve to accept and tolerate each other the sum total and benefit is far larger than the isolation of one alone.  When Muslim melds with Jew, when Christian lives with Buddhist, when East survives with West, surely then we will have passed the test.  How true.  United we stand; divided we fall.
One plus one equals ONE.
