GRAPEVINE
•    “Every new beginning comes from some other beginning’s end.”  How true is that quote?  It’s a simple phrase that summarizes so much of what cycles and time are all about.  As we traverse through life and reach the highs and lows of the great sine wave of life, we are faced with eternal beginnings and endings.
•    I recently published an article in Voice Of Choices magazine titled “An Introduction To The Astrological Houses.”  Voice Of Choices is a wonderful spiritually-oriented magazine located in the Pacific Northwest and available on line at:

•    My mandalas will be on display through the The Center for Arts in Natick (TCAN).  Check out this link for the details.  My work will be on display in a bakery in downtown Natick.  “Mmmmm, Donuts,” - Homer Simpson.  (They ARE round.)  http://www.natickarts.org/gallery/gallery_satellite.php.
•    “Turning Of The Wheel” radio show continues to gather momentum.  On one show in early October I had 6 callers from around the globe.  That may seem small, but trust me, after years as a radio host, callers are a very hard-won indicator that the show is working.  Thank you for calling and please keep it up.   You will begin to notice a shift and some new guests coming on.  My biggest news is the appearance of Alex and Allyson Grey.  Those of you unfamiliar with Grey’s work should check out http://www.alexgrey.com and see if it doesn’t stir you.  Also of note is Michele Avanti’s appearance which is on the topic of astrocartography.  Did you know that where you live is a determining factor in your personal success and happiness?  Listen to Michele Avanti as she explains how to find where you are supposed to live for your sign.
•    All the radio shows are sitting up on iTunes as podcasts and you can listen or subscribe to them for FREE.  They are a smash!

•    My goal is to bring intelligent guests to the show to help discuss and educate. Log on to the shows chat room and ask those questions you are afraid to ask on the air.  http://host50.123flashchat.com/contacttalkradio/
•    There is a web-forum that also allows you to offer ideas, discussions and comments on shows to come or shows gone by.  I have a regular site on the Contact Talk Radio web so check there for the calendar of guests. Please mark your calendars and call with questions that day.  Here is the link:  http://www.contacttalkradio.com/hosts/chrisflisher.htm  I have following guests lined up.

AS ABOVE, SO BELOW:

Astrology is as much a science as it is an art.  Much like the manner in which medicine is administered, astrology also involves a degree of practice.    The jokes are easy when you think of doctors practicing, but that is exactly what they do.  Not all diagnoses are easy and a trial-and-error method is often the choice.  Repeated patterns and results eventually indicate what works and what doesn’t.  That data can only come from experimentation and analysis.  The same is true with astrology.  It is a science that uses thousands of years of observation to form conclusions.  The science of astrology comes from the mathematical alignment and inter-relationship between planets as they relate to the individual’s birth chart.  Each planet is an object with motion and charge.  That charge interacts with other planets and creates tension from which events and action arise.  It is that interaction that we refer to as aspects.  It is the degree and angles that dictate the outcome of the relationship whether a positive broadening experience or challenging and limiting experience. When combined with the intuitive interpretation of a qualified astrologer you have an art and a science that offers undeniable accuracy.  Trust me.

Forecast:
Last month I discussed spoke of the significance of Mercury retrograde and its impact on the manner in which we communicate.  It impact will soon fade as November rolls on.  The small planet will begin its ingress (movement) into forward motion on November 1st and much of the communicative ambiguity will begin to dissipate.  Elsewhere in the cosmic realm we have a slight bit of tension between Venus and Jupiter as they form a square (90 degree) angle.  These typically indicate career paths and the complexities that go with making hard decisions.  Another potential hotspot building up is a tense angle between Venus and Pluto.  Venus is all about love, money, prosperity.  When aspected with Pluto, it indicates a transformation in the way you approach those.  On a positive note, gigantic Jupiter, the planet of expansion and growth is coming into conjunction (direct alignment) with Pluto.  Look for major changes in the way in which problems are solved on a global level.  New dialogs, new methods, and strategies abound.  Not surprising when we see the tensions beginning to boil with Russia, Iran and the US.  Timing is everything and let’s hope the universe lends a hand in solving these potentially huge gulfs.  Focus on positive events and always be open to possibilities.  Personal readings are always available by emailing Chris at chris@chrisflisher.com.  Visit http://www.chrisflisher.com/astrology for Fees and Services.
Astrology 101: Aspects
Quite simply, aspects are the inter-relationship of two planets by degrees in an astrology chart.  These aspects are based on the 360 degrees of a circle.  If we divide the wheel into 12 equal pieces, or sections, like a pizza, we have 12 pieces of 30 degrees each (12x30=360); the number of degrees in a circle.  When an astrology chart is drawn up, the location of each planet is measured by degree within a sign.  For example, Sun at 12 degrees Aries, Moon at 6 degrees Cancer and so on.  Each sign has 30 degrees.  Each planet lands at some degree point within a sign in the individual chart.  The relationship between any two planets(or more) in a chart are called the aspects.
For sake of understanding, we’ll stick with the two types of relationships that are most important to people; those that represent ease and those that represent challenge.  An easy aspect is one that is either 0 degrees or 120 degrees.  Zero degrees is called a “conjunction” and it means that two planets join forces and combine their energy to serve the person.  It also means that they are in the same sign and close by degree.  For example Sun conjunct Moon would mean that both planets are close by degree.  120 degrees is called a “trine” and represents planets that are in the same “element” as each other; for example Sun trine Moon would indicate that the two planets are roughly 120 degrees apart and were located in the same element within a chart.  For example; both in fire, or earth, or water, or air.
By contrast, the challenging aspects are those that are either opposite (180 degrees; half of 360 degrees) or 90 degrees apart.  These are called “opposition” for the 180 degree angle and “square” for the 90 degree angle.  Planets that are in opposition or squared are in the same “mode” of the chart.  There are three modes; cardinal (leaders and starters); fixed (immovable and stubborn); or mutable (flexible and adaptable).  Any knowledge of basic geometry you may have will substantiate these degrees.  Simply get out your compass.
To clarify element and mode, remember that same elements get along with each other; hence the conjunction and the trine, while modes represent similar drives but quite different elements; hence the tension or challenge.  Knowing these basic rules of astrology can greatly enhance your enjoyment and understanding of the complexity involved in human personalities and interaction.  And if you didn’t inherently know that and you met someone that you either “clicked with” or didn’t, these angles would illustrate why.  Aspects are a major part of astrology and a tool we use to understand the character, drives and emotions of the individual.  Ask any astrologer about the term “aspects” and they will immediately know what you are asking.  For more in-depth discussion of astrology, contact Chris.  Personal readings are always available by emailing Chris at chris@chrisflisher.com.  Visit http://www.chrisflisher.com/astrology for Fees and Services.

SPIRIT IN ART:
“Om Sweet Om” – An obvious play on words, “Om Sweet Om” is a playful homage to the Tibetan/Buddhist mantra, “Om mani padme om,” with a distinct Western twist.  The Buddha had a great sense of humor.  Laughter is the medicine.

 Om Sweet Om

© 2005 Chris Flisher

The following text is excerpted from Chris’s forthcoming book, “Mandalas: Spirit In Art”

“Om Sweet Om”
“Om, om on the range.
Where the fear and the lack of hope prey.
Where seldom a word of glad
tidings is heard,
And the stars light up the Milky Way.”

...or something like that....
The mandala here consists of the Tibetan characters for the Buddhist chant of Om Mani Padme Om. The chant frees the mind from the past and removes the spectre of the future with its steady drone and focus on the breath. It is from the breath and the slight space beween the rise and fall of our lungs that we find the peace we all seek.   Some say that god lies between the in and out of our breath. That silent space where neither in nor out exists. Do we know the power we hold in our breath? Only if you step into the fold and embrace its power will you feel the space.

Breathe in, breathe out
As within, so without
